The space is considered endless and intangible. There is the necessity to create borders and limits to realize according space with imagination and desires, determining and influencing spatial complexity of architectural planning. Lines and areas are curved, moulded and are cut across according the necessity and the desires. Pure and easy forms are fragmented, modified and twisted until their negation; performance deceived the eye building uncommon scenes and worlds, deleting or re-creating the space.
Planners, builders, users consider many new solutions produced during the last years as arduous.
The most important fact is that the architectures are realized in order to surprise but we cannot astonish because the maraviglia is included in the human inclination.
This suggests that we do not have to fear the new, rejecting or denigrating it “in primis” as it appears incomprehensible, but we have to know it for understanding it and analysing the concepts by which it is subtended.
To repel everything new means living out of the present.
The deformations of the areas and deceptive images of the illusory space are some characteristics of the present architecture: to understand the essence and the potentiality of the project is the humus for new aims.
The necessity to promote the research in this direction and to communicate the results, in order to put in touch the knowledge and the skills between them, is told by the need to point out the relations between all the competence’s ambit (representation, planning and technology) in the process of architectural creation. The central role of geometry as main tool to understand and represent the space in the architectural plan is evident, as it has ever been and will be, either in its bidimensional three dimensionality as in the new informatics skills.
The role of the geometry in the planning process is cultural and philosophic; the projective methods are planning devices, not only suitable to acquire the control of space’s perceptive deformation in its representation, but in the same realized architecture.
Objectives of the Project
The meeting’s object is the diffusion of available information on the contemporary architectural project in the new complex configurations of the space.
The extent and the diffusion of the phenomenon of the “meraviglia” architecture, the performance of new technology and data development and the sustainable development of the project of architecture impose an exchange between the involved disciplinary areas as the project’s aim.
The seminar wants to share knowledge and experiences and to put them into concrete form with a sectorial exercise of aware interaction in an exchange between teachers and students-architects.
Program
The meeting will be articulated in a two days’ congress and a three days’ active seminar between knowledge’s research and the application in the didactics, with the direct presence of the student in architecture. The study days will have as referees international renowned teachers of subjects that concur to the implementation of the project of architecture.
We foresee the presence of the colleagues from national and international university.
An exhibition will be held to show the related works and the projects that will be developed during the workshop.
More technical information on contributions and tables for the exhibition will follow.
Subjects:
The “meraviglia” of built architecture: ancient and contemporaneous techniques
The influences of projective methods on the architectural plan.
The spatial complexity in the architectural plan: idea-drawing-project, representation.
The influences of the new representing tools and their potentialities in the planning process.
The invention of the project: a new process to be identified?
Geometries: structures and technologies for architectural sustainability.
