Fosco Maraini - Florence and Kyoto, parallel
cities - exhibition
Gabinetto Vieusseux, Palazzo Strozzi, Sala Ferri
4th March - 15th April 2005, Florence
Under the auspices of the
President of the Italian Republic
Supported by the Region of Tuscany
Organized by the
Romualdo Del Bianco
Foundation in collaboration with
Gabinetto Vieusseux
and
Florentine Councillor for
International Relations and City Twinning.
With simplicity and force that are characteristic
for the works of Maraini, from the pictures and
key notes of Florence and Kyoto, parallel cities
two alternative cultures transpire: wise but
absolute supremacy above the nature, as Florence
is expressed, or total and mystical fusion with
the nature as Kyoto is seen. The inside cohesion
of both prospectives and the religious attitudes
induce extensive reflections about what the
references to their symbolical side mean for us
and about how this kind legacy can be seen.
The catalogue published by Polistampa demonstrates
the photographs and texts of Fosco Maraini. The
exhibition is expected to be in Kyoto in autumn
2005.
